DEVELOPING SOUGHT-AFTER SKILLS

First and foremost, the National School for Water and Environmental Engineering (ENGEES) specialises in hydraulics applied to the environment and trains engineers who are immediately operational in the following areas:

  •  municipal facilities, including drinking water, sanitation and waste management systems
  •  sustainable development of local areas
  •  management of environmental and health risks
  •  management of public services.

At a time when environmental concerns are a central focus for the management of our communities, ENGEES provides a professional response tailored to the needs of the companies and services that deal with matters involving water and the environment.

A wide range of courses are offered, always structured around the school's area of expertise – water and the environment – so as to respond precisely to students' aspirations and to the diversity of their profiles, as well as to the needs of the market and the expectations of employers.

Backed by 50 years of experience, the school is now a renowned leader in its field.

TRAINING OF ENGINEERS UNDER STUDENT, CIVIL SERVANT OR APPRENTICESHIP STATUS

ENGEES delivers a CTI-accredited engineering degree (BAC+5) in water and environmental engineering. In 3 years, students acquire their skills through a progressive teaching approach and project-based teaching. This reinforced and integrated approach to water and the environment in the territories is carried out in close collaboration with the actors of the sector. Some ENGEES engineers pursue a doctorate to acquire a highly specialised engineering profile. Many of them choose to join the ENGEES laboratories where they benefit, alongside other doctoral students, from the supervision of the school's teacher-researchers.

The engineering degree can be obtained as a student, civil servant or apprentice (in the latter case a block release training). The three-year course consists of lectures, tutorials, lab work, projects and visits. The teaching is progressive and allows students to acquire the fundamentals of engineering sciences (statistics, mathematics, physics, mechanics, analysis, etc.), applied sciences (soil and life sciences, water chemistry, drinking water and wastewater networks, water treatment, river hydraulics, fluid mechanics, etc.), and human and social sciences.  Students pre-specialise during the 2nd year. The third year is personalised around an individual professional project: choice of one of seven courses of study at ENGEES (urban hydraulics, hydro systems, water treatment, operations and works, waste, catchment area management, ecology/ecological engineering) or among partner or co-accredited courses of study in other French or foreign institutions.

PROFESSIONAL DEGREE

The professional degree Protection of the Environment with a specialisation in Management of Urban and Rural Water focuses on the management, operation and design of networks and treatment systems in drinking water conveyance and wastewater and rainwater treatment. It is a national diploma of BAC+3 level (degree accredited with the University of Strasbourg) which is prepared in one year.

MASTER'S DEGREES

6 master's degrees accredited by the Universities of Strasbourg and Hanoi in Vietnam and ENGEES are offered in the following fields Engineering and Geosciences, Digital Mechanics, Energy Management and Law, Environmental Geography, Earth Observation, Water-Environment-Oceanography.

MASTER'S DEGREES

SPECIALIZED MASTER'S DEGREES

ENGEES also offers 4 specialized master’s degrees:

  • Drinking water and sanitation
  • Waste management, treatment and reuse (with Mines de Nancy and ENSG)
  • Wastewater and storm water management (with EIVP)
  • Water catchment area management (will not open at the start of the 2023/2024 school year)

Approved by the “Conférence des Grandes Ecoles”, these master's degrees enable a mixed public of professionals and students to acquire high-level technical skills in one year after a BAC+5 (or BAC+4 for professionals with at least three years' experience).
